During 2011, the generation industry registered an increase of its installed capacity of 1.299 MW regarding the previous year, reaching a total of 29.443 MW.
During the same year, there was an increase of 4.7% in generated energy with a volume of 118,049 GWh and 112,721 GWh of generated electricity for years 2011 and 2010, respectively. Thermal generation continued to be the main resource to meet demand, contributing with 62% followed by the hydroelectric generation which contributed with 33% and nuclear generation with 5%.
